Yacht-Sentinel
yacht-sentinel features
 MOORING ALARM
The user can set the ‘home’ mooring position to enable Yacht Sentinel to monitor the movement of the boat at moorings. This is especially useful when on swing moorings as should the boat begin to drift outside a 30 metre radius from the mooring point then a MOVE-OUT alarm will be sent to the pre-set mobiles. This feature uses advanced GPS Geo-fencing techniques to monitor that the boat is within the defined 30 metre radius. When the boat returns to the geo-fence area then a MOVE-IN alarm SMS is sent informing the user that the boat has returned to the mooring location. With each alarm the text also contains Latitude, Longitude, Course (COG) & speed (SOG) in knots.

 GPS TRACKING
GPS track information is sent as an SMS containing Latitude, Longitude, Course Over Ground (COG) and Speed Over Ground in knots (SOG) as an SMS text to the users mobile, the user then can enter this into Google maps to visualize the location. The unit will continue to do continuous tracking for at least 5 days without connection to power. This information can be obtained by the user at any time through status request and by anyone you wish to give the PIN number and mobile number.

BILGE-ALARM - Requires optional bilge sensor
The bilge level of the boat can be monitored, two sensors are placed either side of the bilge to cancel out ‘slop’ in the bliges due to wave action. Should both sensors detect an increase in the water level in the bilge then Yacht Sentinel will send an SMS alarm.

Installing the bilge sensor is simplicity itself, the sensors are stuck to each side of the bilge and are wired to a connector on the side of Yacht Sentinel. All cables and connectors are supplied with the sensor kit.

ENTRY-ALARM - Requires optional hatch sensor or movement detector.
The Entry Alarm option is to enable detection of unauthorised entry into the cabin of the boat. Magnetic sensors are placed on the hatch entry, and sensors are wired to Yacht Sentinel by a simple connector. Should the hatch be opened magnetic sensors detect the hatch opening which in turn causes Yacht Sentinel to send a Hatch Alarm SMS to the user. The Intruder Alarm is enabled/disabled via the parameter SMS simple by sending a text e.g. Hatchalarm=yes to the Yacht Sentinel.

 LOW POWER USAGE
Low Power Swing Mooring Compatible, Yacht Sentinel was designed to be able to run on a typical boat battery for many months. This means that boat owners on swing moorings, far from any shore power, can also take advantage of the features of Yacht Sentinel. Yacht Sentinel was designed using the very latest in low-power devices to minimise power consumption. Yacht Sentinel also uses innovative software to ensure efficient use of microcontroller, GPS and GSM modules to reduce average power consumption to under 0.008 Ampere (8mA).

Yacht Sentinel is also compliant to CE mark.

 ANCHOR-ALARM
When at anchor your Yacht Sentinel can let you know if your anchor is dragging and even inform you of the current latitude, longitude the speed over ground (SOG) in knots and the course over ground (COG). Unlike other systems it actually sends you an SMS alarm right to your mobile, be it on board, shopping or in a restaurant. The system uses geofencing techniques and monitors continually your position relative to your anchor location. You enable your anchor alarm and set the swing diameter in steps of 5 metres via a simple SMS text to your Yacht Sentinel. Once you have enabled the anchor alarm, Yacht Sentinel automatically stores your GPS co-ordinates and monitors the swing of your craft.

 BATTERY-ALARM
If your boat is on a swing mooring or you don’t have access to shore power, it is important to be able to monitor the boat battery condition so that when you return to your boat it is ready to go.

Yacht Sentinel is able to monitor both 12vDC and 24vDC boat battery systems. Yacht Sentinel monitors the voltage level of the battery and should the voltage drop by at least 1v, indicating the battery is becoming discharged, Yacht Sentinel will send an SMS alarm to your mobile. Yacht Sentinel draws very low current allowing it to operate for months on a typical boat battery and can operate for up to 5 days without any external power through it’s own internal battery.

 POWER-ALARM
Your boat is in the marina, and you have shore power connected, charging the boat battery and running your fridge. Then, unfortunately, there is a short power cut, or a fault in the shore power, but the problem is you are not aware of the loss of power.

Yacht Sentinel will send an SMS alarm if there is a loss of 240v AC shore power to the berthed boat, enabling you to either contact the marina or correct the problem yourself.

 TEMP ALARM
If the temperature in the main cabin drops below a pre-determined temperature, a FROST-ALARM SMS is generated, and should the cabin temperature reach a high temperature i.e. if there is a fire on board, then a HITEMP-ALARM is generated. These alarms are sent via SMS are sent to the pre-set mobiles along with the current temperature. The temperature limits can be set by the user by use of the ‘set parameter’ function. Temperature limits are simply set by sending an SMS with the upper and lower temperature in degrees Celsius. When a status SMS is requested, the current temperature is always indicated in the received text message.

 BOAT STATUS
At any time the status of the boat can be requested. The user sends an SMS request including a PIN number, e.g. 1111, status? Yacht Sentinel receives the SMS and responds with the following information: Boat Name: IMSI Number: Supply status: VBat: Battery level: Temp: GPS status: Latitude: Longitude: SOG: COG:
